Define the measurement chain
A load cell converts applied force into an electrical measurement signal. Mechanical supports, junction box, cabling and the indicator or weighing module form one chain. Capacity selection considers vessel weight, uneven loading, environmental conditions and possible impact loads as well as normal contents. Determine the mounting arrangement from the instructions for the specific sensor and mounting unit.
Example: the effect of a pipe connection
A tank may read zero when empty, yet a rigid pipe can carry part of its load during filling. Changing a software multiplier to hide this variable influence may create different errors at other fill levels. Compare mechanical freedom, pipe stress and repeated loading results during diagnosis. Consider sensor replacement after separating these causes rather than assuming a zero reading proves correct installation.
Multiple sensors and acceptance limits
The total weight can look reasonable while one corner sensor is overloaded. Check corner loading, repeatability and different load positions independently. Verify compatibility and the module’s electrical limits before connecting sensors in parallel. Filtering does not correct a mechanical defect, and one sensor’s certificate cannot establish the legal suitability of the complete scale for commercial transactions.
